Pirramimma, meaning “the moon and the stars” in local Indigenous dialect, dating back to 1892 and founded by AC Johnston is a family owned winery of significance in the heart of McLaren Vale. With vineyard resources of close to 130 hectares, and Owner and Chief Winemaker Geoff Johnston at the helm, who is celebrating his 50th vintage on site, Pirramimma is an iconic winery that has championed such eclectic varieties as Petit Verdot and Tannat, as well as the better known Shiraz, Cabernet and Chardonnay varieties, as well as the rare 1944 bush vine grenache vineyard planted by Italian POW’s. Celebrating wins in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2020 in the International Wine Challenge Vienna as Best Australian Producer, as well as being a Halliday Five Star Rated Winery.
